Wanted to go up to Mt. Sinai
And hang out there for a while
To find and talk to God

There’s so much commotion
Loud music
Human drama
Noise and distraction
About man-made life
You can’t hear the Divine

On the mountaintop
There’s nothing but wind
And solitude
The occasional scratch, buzz, caw
Of critter, cicada, bird

And disappointment when
The Sought is not found.
