Hearing the early kaffe-klatch of birds
chatting Hello and What’s new with your nest?
a bright pink blossom catches my eye,
a rose plant that sprang another 2 feet taller in the past 18 months!

I shall call you Manna.

For I did nothing to plant you or water you
Nothing to tend to you or deserve you.
By God’s grace and provision
You are there
and grew and thrived

Like the Israelites in the desert
who relied on God for food
All I am required to do is gather in
your simple feast of visual nourishment
Remember and give thanks

And let your basic sustenance
feed my soul
daily.
